On my many travels I discover from time to time a jewel. York Lodge is such a place.
From the moment we were welcomed, the coffee and home... read more made bisquits, to the lovely rooms and central honesty bar with ice cold beer we felt more than welcome. Margo and her team do an excellent job in difficult circumstances.
My room was large with everything you would need, including a plug at the mirror for the hairdyer! Security is excellent and the gardens absolutely magnificent.
Sitting outside enjoying breakfast in this lovely place makes you want to stay.

We travel to Harare on business every 6 to 8 weeks and decided to try another lodge because the previous place we stayed was continually disrespectful to one of our... read more team.
York Lodge were welcoming and really took care of all our team. Communication in booking the rooms by email was great and simple.
Upon arrival we were met at the door and showed in to registration and taken to our rooms quickly and without hassle.
The rooms are pretty nice. Looked as though they had recently been renovated and to a high standard. Very clean and spacious. Well appointed and equipped, there is everything you need in it to make you comfortable.
Bedding was quality and the bed itself was nice and comfy.
Wireless internet in the room was super fast and had no problems streaming anywhere in the compound.
The breakfast was more than sufficient with plenty of choices on offer from fruit, cold meats and cheeses to fully cooked meals. Enough to start your day right. They even deliver coffee to your room at your designated time so you can sit on the porch and enjoy it before starting your day.
They do offer a 3 course buffet dinner every night. We ate there only once, but enjoyed it. Everything is home made with care and all dietary needs are catered for.
The staff are wonderful and really do take care of you. The owners are there at all times and always ensure all your needs are taken care off.
Not all rooms have AC, but to be honest with the climate in Harare, it was really not needed. I slept with the windows open every night to get a cross breeze and it was cool enough to sleep. Not sure AC would work anyway because of the lack of electricity and the generator does not run at all times and the solar power system is not powerful enough to run them. Luckily the bed had netting as a couple of nights it rained and the flying ants were a problem, but with the bed net, it was fine.
My only gripe about the place was the bar of hand soap. It made your hands sticky after using it. I had to use the bottle of body wash from the shower to wash my hands as I could not live with sticky hands from the bar of soap.
We will definitely be staying here again. It’s a great place with great staff and owners and lovely rooms in a lovely locale.
Many thanks York Lodge.

The place is awesome. I stayed here twice for 2-3 days each within a week and couldn’t be happier. Well worth the money. The newly renovated rooms are even better.... read more I don’t know how do they manage keeping everything so aligned and synched from excellent, good food, amazing staff, great attention to the detail, to extent that they have installed USB plugs in the room where you can simply plug in your cable! The ambience is impeccable and I would highly refined it. It’s pretty much the same cost as the Holiday Inn, but a different world to experience. The person who runs this should be the Secretary General of the UN, to get that org as in shape as this lodge!

Lovely rooms and bathrooms, a very comfortable bed and beautifully maintained gardens. The owners and staff are very friendly and happy to help. Make sure to eat the evening meal... read more at the lodge as the home cooked food was great, especially the huge chunks of beef ome evening.
A pool chair or two would be useful, however that is the extent of the critique!
